How do I quit porn addiction as a Muslim?
Start by naming what set it off and physically removing yourself from it, most relapses happen from the same few triggers repeated, late at night, alone, a specific app. Make sincere tawbah for what already happened, then build a real daily habit around it, not just willpower for one night. Allah describes exactly this pattern: "Indeed, when Satan whispers to those mindful (of Allah), they remember (their Lord) then they start to see (things) clearly." Qur'an 7:201, Khattab Quitting is rarely one clean decision, it is this pattern repeated daily until it holds, which is the actual structure behind a Quitnafs plan.
Why can't I stop watching porn even though I know it's haram?
Knowing something is haram and breaking the habit around it are two different problems. Guilt on its own does not remove a trigger, and neither does counting days, which is why so many people who try streak counting alone start over again and again. What actually changes it is noticing the exact moment the urge starts and having a real, practiced response ready for that moment, not just the general intention to stop. That is the mechanism a Quitnafs plan is built around, one real step a day, not a countdown.
Is watching porn haram in Islam?
Yes. The Qur'an ties this directly to guarding one's private parts and one's gaze outside marriage: "those who guard their chastity, except with their wives or those (bondwomen) in their possession, for then they are free from blame, but whoever seeks beyond that are the transgressors." Qur'an 23:5 to 7, Khattab Watching pornography falls outside that boundary. We built the Quitnafs plan around leaving it completely, not managing it.
Is masturbation haram in Islam?
The stronger and majority position across the four Sunni schools is that it is not permitted, tied to the same verse above about guarding one's desire outside marriage. If this is the part you struggle with, the plan above is built for exactly this pattern too, we do not treat it as a smaller, separate problem.
Is nofap sunnah, or just a secular trend?
Nofap is a modern, secular term for stopping masturbation, usually framed around streaks and self-discipline alone. Islam asks for the same outward action, guarding one's desire outside marriage, but for a different reason and with a different support system: sincere repentance to Allah, not just personal willpower, and mercy when you slip, not a broken streak counter starting back at zero. That difference is why streak-counting apps alone often do not hold for long, and why a Quitnafs plan is built around repentance and a daily step, not a number.
Do I need ghusl after watching porn?
Ghusl becomes required when there is release, meaning ejaculation, not from watching on its own. If nothing was released, an ordinary wudu before your next prayer is enough. If there was release, ghusl is required before you pray again. Either way, the watching itself still needs repenting from. The ruling on ghusl is only about purification for prayer, not about whether a sin happened.
Will Allah forgive me for watching porn?
Yes. Allah says: "O My servants who have exceeded the limits against their souls! Do not lose hope in Allah's mercy, for Allah certainly forgives all sins. He is indeed the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful." Qur'an 39:53, Khattab Habit and forgiveness are not the same question. Even if this has gone on for years, we do not think the door has closed, and neither does this ayah.
How many times will Allah forgive me for the same sin?
As many times as you sincerely come back. The Prophet, peace be upon him, described a person who sins, asks forgiveness, is forgiven, then sins again, asks again, and is forgiven again. Allah says of him: "My slave has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for it, I therefore have forgiven my slave." Sahih al-Bukhari 7507, Book 97, Hadith 132 Relapsing does not erase what came before it or disqualify you from trying again.
What can I say when the urge comes?
Say أَعوذُ بِاللّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ which means: I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed. Allah describes exactly this moment: "Indeed, when Satan whispers to those mindful (of Allah), they remember (their Lord) then they start to see (things) clearly." Qur'an 7:201, Khattab Naming the feeling, saying this, and physically leaving the room for a few minutes is the actual first step we give people in a Quitnafs plan, not a generic tip.
How does Quitnafs help you quit?
Quitnafs is not a document you read once. After a short set of questions, we build you a private daily page for 14 days. Every day carries one real step sourced from the Qur'an or an authentic hadith, and the next day is built from how the last one actually went, not a fixed script everyone gets. It costs $5 once, and the questions above take about two minutes to answer.
